Mercer County Fire Displaces Local Family Saturday, Red Cross Says
A family of five was provided with temporary lodging and clothing after a residential fire in Ewing Saturday afternoon, the Red Cross said.
EWING, NJ - A family of five was provided with temporary lodging, food and clothing after a residential fire in Ewing Saturday afternoon, Red Cross officials said.
The blaze was reported on the 300 block of Berwyn Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. with a possible entrapment. At the scene, fire officials observed a heavy fire on the second and third floor, fire officials said.
A “towering column of smoke was” could reportedly be seen for miles, Mid Jersey News reported.

“Our volunteers responded to a home #fire on Berwyn Ave in #Ewing, helping a family of 5 with Red Cross emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food and clothing needs,” the Red Cross confirmed on its Twitter page.
A dog was reportedly in the house during the time of the blaze, the Mid Jersey News added. As of Sunday morning, it remained unclear whether the animal survived.
