Missing Teen Found Safe

Sixteen-year-old John Distasio turned up at his grandmother's residence in Howard Beach, N.Y.

 

A missing 16-year-old Lawrence Township teen has turned up safe and sound, according to Lawrence Township Police Department. 

John Distasio was reported missing on Sunday, April 29, after his father notified police that his son had not been home since April 24.

Distasio attends a private school in Basking Ridge, but had been visiting his father in Lawrence, according to police. Off. Lauren Laux conducted an investigation and discovered that Distasio was last seen at his grandmother's in Howard Beach, N.Y. She gave him money to take the train home, but Distasio never arrived home. He was dropped off at Liberty A subway station the evening of April 28. 

On May 19, Distasio's mother contacted Lawrence Township Police and said her son had returned to his grandmother's house in Howard Beach. Police Det. David Burns went to New York, confirmed that Distasio was OK and returned him to his mother.
