NJ, PA Men Helped Drivers Dodge $1M Dollars In PA Turnpike Tolls: Feds

The men allegedly registered thousands of E-Z pass transponders using false information and later sold the transponders to truck drivers.

HAMILTON, NJ - One New Jersey man and a Pennsylvania man were indicted earlier this month by a federal grand jury after allegedly helping truck drivers evade around $1,000,000 in tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, authorities said.

Duvany Zambrano, age 43, of Hamilton, N.J., and Sergio Jara, age 37, of Allentown, P.a., allegedly registered thousands of E-Z pass transponders using fake personal and credit card information starting in 2018, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Friday.

The duo then allegedly sold the transponders to truckers in the New Jersey area who traveled on the Pennsylvania Turnpike hauling materials, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
