Obituary: Gicheru Mwariri, 24

Lawrence Township resident served as an emergency medical service volunteer.

Gicheru "G" Mwariri, 24, of Lawrence Township, died Oct. 23 at home.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, he lived in Lawrence for 15 years, served as an emergency medical service volunteer at Nottingham Ambulance Squad in Hamilton Township, and worked at Halo Farm.

Gicheru was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 2005 where he was a member of the cross-country track team and a black belt in Tae-kwon Do.

He received his associates cegree in Nursing from Mercer County Community College.

Left to mourn his loss are his father David Gilbert, his mother Beatrice Mwariri, his sister Wambui Gilbert, and his extended family in Kenya, the United States and the United kingdom.

Family, friends, and colleagues are all welcome to his viewing at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrence Township, on Sunday, Oct. 30, between 1:30 and 3 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m.

Burial will be in Nyeri, Kenya.
