
It was opening day in Lawrence earlier this month for Little League Baseball and Softball. Here are some of the results of this weekend’s contests, as submitted by coaches.
Mid Atlantic Division — Baseball

Captain Paul’s – 5
Bossio’s Deli was led by an outstanding pitching performance by starting pitcher Shaun Johnson. Johnson recorded 9 strikeouts over 3 innings pitched, allowing just 1 walk. In addition, Johnson recorded the final putout of the game by catching a four pop up near first base. Other contributors included reliever Edward Coplin, who completed the final 3 innings of the game and put up a 3 for 3 performance at the plate that included 2 triples, 1 double and 2 runs scored. In addition, Jake Bennett went 2 for 3 with 1 double and 1 single, scoring once.

Captain Paul’s pitching allowed just 1 run over the first 3 innings before yielding 6 runs in the final 3 innings. The team rallied in the bottom of the 5th inning, scoring 3 runs led by hits from Aidan Loughran, Matt DeMott and Jacob Abrams. The team’s final rally in the bottom of the 6th came up short with 1 run scored by Kevin Dalle Pazze.
Mid Atlantic Division — Baseball
Houlihan’s – 6
Candela’s – 5
Pate Jessop of Houlihan’s pitched 3 solid innings with Matt Kildea pitching relief. Adam Levinsky, Davin Jodoin, Gianni Leonardo and Connor Monoghan scored runs with steals of home plate. Matt Roman hit a double in the 2nd bringing in two runs and tying the game 3-3 keeping the game tight.

SG Heating & AC
Wellness Coaches USA played SG Heating & AC in a great Opening Day game. Drew McGuire did a tremendous job as catcher while Krish Sain made an awesome infield fly catch. SG Heating & AC came ready to play. Rick Eisenhauer had two good hits and Donovan White made a great play at first base.

Doherty Painting - 13
Boomerang Dining - 1
Doherty Painting opened its season with a 13 to 1 victory over Boomerang Dining. They collected 11 hits, led by Justin Featherston’s 3 for 3 day with a double. Shea McGuire added 2 more with a double, and Joey Hiner had a long triple to right. Steven Sikora, Ameer Hasan, Garrett Maloney, Savian Cruz, and Aidan Edwards all knocked singles.
Ryan Kaelblein pitched a gem, allowing only one unearned run on one hit while striking out 8 during his 3.2 innings of work. Steven Sikora finished the game by striking out the side in the last inning, giving the Doherty staff 11 strikeouts on the day.
The Boomerang offense was lead by Ean Dauer, who hit a clean single to right, and Justin Wolf, who beat out an infield single, drew a walk and scored a run. The defense cut down a runner at the plate when Michael Streger threw to Aidan Wilson, who fired to Trevor Delcompe who applied the tag.
The star of the day for Boomerang, however, was Delcampe. He faced nine batters and stuck out 7 of them. Doherty Painting was unable to even put the ball in play against him, mustering only two walks.
