Police Seek Public's Help ID'ing Men Allegedly Masturbating, Grabbing Women

Two incidents- one this week and one in August- have been reported so far.

Lawrence Police are seeking the public's help to identify men who allegedly has been masturbating in public, then grabbing women who have been walking or jogging around Lawrenceville. Two incidents- one this week and one in August- have been reported so far. 

Police say it was Wednesday, Nov. 6 around 5:45 a.m. when a 47-year-old woman was out for a morning jog and  saw a man standing behind a dark van on the northbound side of Princeton Pike near Carr Avenue. 

The woman told police that the van's engine was running. As she jogged by, she noticed the appeared to have his pants down and was possibly masturbating. She continued to jog and suddenly, she felt someone grab her arm and her buttocks. 

She turned around and saw the male she had just passed. The man turned around and ran back to the van, got into the drivers’ seat and sped off north on Princeton Pike. 

The victim jogged home and notified the police. She described the suspect as a short, stocky Hispanic male wearing a work jacket and dark pants. He is reportedly driving a dark gray or black late-model minivan in good condition, possibly a Honda or Toyota. 

Lawrence Police say a similar incident occurred on Friday Aug.  23 at 5:45 a.m. That's when a 22-year-old female was walking to work north on Brunswick Avenue near Vermont Street . She told police she passed a short Hispanic male walking south.  A couple seconds after she passed him, he came up behind her and grabbed her buttocks. He did not say anything to the victim. The victim quickly walked away and the suspect did not follow her.

The victim described the man as approximately 5 feet tall, 35 to 38 years old, wearing a gray baseball cap and gray short-sleeve t-shirt and long pants.

She told police that three days before the incident, she noticed the same man standing in the same area. She said when she walked past him he was looking at her and masturbating.

The incidents are being investigated by Det. Robert Potter and Det. Todd Caruso.
