The Port Authority is cautioning E-ZPass customers about a phishing email scam.

Customers have been receiving emails which state, "You have not paid for driving on a toll road. . . . please service your debt in the shortest possible time." It then includes a downloadable invoice.

According to statement from the Port Authority, "The E-ZPass Service Center does not send out email invoices for payment." They add that the invoice would be sent through the mail. They advise recipients of such emails to delete them and not to download anything.

There have been no reports yet of who is behind the scam.
