Rider University Student Killed in Accident

A Rider University student died Saturday after he was hit by a car late Friday near Route 46 in Wayne, NJ.
Michael W. Pascrell, 21, who died Saturday after being struck by a car Friday night, was a lifelong resident of Wayne.

The Wayne Valley High School Class of 2010 graduate was walking on the right side of a ramp leading to Route 46 at about 10:15 p.m. Friday when an unidentified driver struck him. Pascrell died at St. Joseph's hospital at 12:35 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.
Pascrell will be laid to rest at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa after a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 630 Valley Road.

Pascrell was a junior at Rider University and a cousin of U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-Paterson.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, according to an obituary posted on Vander May's website.
