'Rocks and Fossils are Fun!'

Free program to be held at the Lawrence Nature Center at 10:30 this morning (Monday, Oct. 10) will teach children about rocks, minerals and fossils.

With Lawrence Township public schools closed today, Monday, Oct. 10, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday, the  is inviting parents and children to attend a program entitled “Rocks and Fossils are Fun!”

The event, which is free, runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Lawrence Nature Center at 481 Drexel Ave. All young children must be accompanied by an adult.

Grades Pre-K to 1: Linda Townsend, a pre-schoolteacher at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church Nursery School, will have all sorts of crafts on hand to help youngsters learn about rocks, minerals and fossils.

Grades 2-12: LNC educator Sue Herrmann will teach students how to identify, rocks and minerals and fossils.
