Monday
The Boheme Opera New Jersey will present a lecture featuring both live singing and recordings of favorite arias. Examples include arias from Puccini’s Turandot, Madame Butterfly, and La Boheme, Verdi’s La Traviata and Rigoletto, Bellini’s Norma, Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Bizet’s Carmen and others. Terhune Orchards will hold its Read & Pick program, combining a hands-on farm activity with your young child and listening to a story highlighting that area of the farm. Parents and young children (ages preschool to 8 years) are welcome to celebrate everything tractors. We will be reading two books about tractors and how they help farmers. Mrs. G's Fall BYOB Cooking Class: Pasta 3 Ways. Chef Mary Beth Madill will demonstrate how easy it is to make homemade pasta. She will prepare cavatelli with broccoli rabe and pine nuts, vavioli with three different fillings and chocolate fettuccine with creme anglaise. Bring your favorite bottle of wine; required. Must be at least 21. Bring your favorite bottle of wine. Registration required. 6 p.m.
Mike Rutkowski of A & E Construction will be at the Lawrence Library to share ways homeowners can save money on their heating and cooling costs by making energy savings improvements. Information about state and federal incentives in the form of rebates, tax credits and interest-free loans that are available to homeowners who make home energy improvements will also be made available. Registration suggested, 7 p.m.
The Women’s Leadership Council will hold its First Annual Power of the Purse at Jasna Polana, an afternoon of shopping, networking and empowerment, all while raising money for our early reading readiness initiative. Noon to 2 p.m., Boutique opens at 11:30 a.m. Registration requested.
Visit Dress for Success Mercer County’s New Lawrenceville Home during its open house. A recent grant and volunteers have allowed the organization to expand its Career Center services to disadvantaged women in greater Mercer County who need a job and career development tools. Tour their new home and learn about the programs, volunteer opportunities and events, 6-8 p.m.
