Unique Water Circus Show Sets Up Tent In Lawrenceville
Cirque Italia will set up its tent outside Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrenceville through Sunday.
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — A one-of-a-kind circus experience is here in Lawrenceville, combining death-defying acrobatics with an aquatic twist that sets it apart from traditional big top shows.
Cirque Italia will set up its tent outside Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrenceville from Friday through Sunday, bringing what the company calls a "water-focused circus" to local audiences. The Italian entertainment company has been touring since 2012, offering a distinctly European-style performance that incorporates a massive water stage into its death-defying acts.
The centerpiece of Cirque Italia's production is its custom-designed water stage, which holds 35,000 gallons of water and travels from city to city. Performers execute their routines above, around, and through this aquatic element, creating a visual spectacle that traditional circuses cannot match.

Audiences can expect to see acrobats swinging from ropes, flipping over trapezes, and racing by on BMX bikes and roller skates—all while incorporating the water element into their performances. The acts are designed to express what the company describes as "versatility and fluidity through human movement," with curtains of rain and fountain jets timed to complement each routine.
The circus was founded by Manuel Rebecchi, whose family connections run deep in the circus world. As the nephew of Moira Orfei, known as the "queen of the Italian circus," Rebecchi combined his family's circus pedigree with his own creative vision to create something entirely new in the entertainment industry.

This blend of tradition and innovation has allowed Cirque Italia to carve out a unique niche in the competitive circus market, offering performances that company officials say leave "crowds breathless and competitors hurrying to catch up."
Beyond the water-based acrobatics, the show incorporates laser lights and bubbles to create what organizers describe as an "interdimensional effect." The production doesn't shy away from fantasy elements either—mermaids emerge from the water depths, and even dinosaurs make appearances during the show.
These theatrical touches are designed to appeal to audiences of all ages.
Tickets for the Lawrenceville performances can be purchased online or at the box office. For more details click here.
