Barrett Brokaw passed away due to complications from a previous brain injury on Sept. 11, 2016. He was 43.
Barry suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2014, but upon recovery, was able to return to work at Search Day School, where he helped autistic students.

Barry was born in Red Bank. He received a degree in creative writing from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and received a second degree in music education from Rhode Island College.
Barry is survived by his mother Chloe Brokaw, his father Peter Brokaw, his stepmother Laura Brokaw, his brother Bradford Brokaw and his wife Kitty, his brother David Brokaw and his beloved niece and nephew ShaiAnne and Brayden Brokaw.

Barry enjoyed singing and playing bass with his band. Even after moving back to New Jersey to be near his mother, Barry remained close to his friends in Rhode Island. Barry was a talented mimic and entertained friends and family with his shenanigans.
There will be a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 24 at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank.
