Beautiful Night Makes for Perfect Summer's End in Oceanport

The Oceanport Summer's End Festival, postponed due to threats of storms the day before, was the perfect way to end the season.

Following the drenching rain and gusty winds that forced organizers to delay the event on Saturday, thein Oceanport was kissed by blue skies and cool temperatures to wrap up the season Sunday night.

Patch stopped by just in time to see John Vaccarelli, the seventh grade social studies teacher at Maple Place School, get dropped into the dunk tank and chatted with his coworkers Annamarie Ippolito and Anthony Grassi, who were next up on deck. We were disappointed, however, to learn that we had missed the dunking of Councilman Joe Irace. Next year we'll come earlier.

The annual event, sponsored by the borough in conjunction with the Oceanport Parks and Recreation Committee, was held at and capped off with fireworks later that night.
