Eugene P. Vena Of Oceanport Dies At 73
Services for life member of Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Company will be held on Sunday and Monday.

Eugene P. Vena, 73, of Oceanport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 17, 2016, the birthday of his late mother.
Eugene was born on Oct. 11, 1942 in South Amboy and lived most of his life in Cliffwood. On Oct.12, 1963, Eugene married his high school sweetheart, Anita, and they soon started their family. Eugene retired in 2004, after working for many years as a custodial engineer at the Aberdeen-Matawan School District, and moved to Albrightsville, Penn., fulfilling a long-held ambition to own property in the woods of Pennsylvania. He moved back to New Jersey last year.

He was a lifelong member of the Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Co. He enjoyed fishing, the NY Yankees and, above all else, spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Barrett) and Joseph J. Vena Sr. Eugene is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 52 years, Anita M. (Kizinkiewicz) Vena; his loving children, Mary Bremner of Oceanport; Eugene P. Vena Jr. and his wife, Dona, of Richfield, WI; and Heather Racioppi and her husband, Dustin, of Wanamassa; along with his dear siblings, Margaret Crist and her husband, Joseph; Joseph Vena Jr. and his wife, Patricia; Sharon Malysa and her husband, Robert; Nancy Neinstedt and her husband, Mark; and his five cherished grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21and Monday morning from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. Following Monday morning’s visitation hours, last call will take place at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Co. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Keyport.
