FMERA Setting Up Shop in Fort Monmouth Library

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitlization Authority (FMERA) is making its move to the former Fort Monmouth library this month.

FMERA's monthly meetings will be held at the library which will be accessible by Oceanport Avenue.

The Monmouth County Fair also kicks off tonight and according to the National Weather Service, the tradition of rain at the fair should get at least one day’s respite.

The forecast for today calls for a high of 85 during the day before dropping to a much cooler 61 at night so a light jacket could be a good idea at the East Freehold Showgrounds. The gates will open for the fair at 5 p.m. and the annual event is scheduled to run through Sunday.

Wednesday is also Cousins Day and Amelia Earhart Day celebrating the birth of the famous aviator. Today also marks 21 years since Hurricane Andrew created historic levels of damage to Florida and the Gulf Coast.

Famous birthdays today include actress Marlee Matlin, baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr. and actor Dave Chapelle.
