James A. Carroll Of Little Silver Dies At 87

Services will be held on Thursday and Friday in Red Bank.

James A. Carroll, 87, of Little Silver, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Riverview Medical Center.

James was born in Deal to Anthony and Helen (Lindsay) Carroll. He lived in Middletown before moving to Little Silver 15 years ago.

James was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and the University of Maryland, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He retired in 1962 as an accountant for NJ Bell/AT&T in Newark after 37 years of service. James was a longtime communicant of St. James R.C. Church in Red Bank. He loved sports and was a loyal Giant and Mets fan. Most especially, James loved spending time with family and friends.

James is predeceased by his parents and by his sister, Constance Covert. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Eugenia Mayer Carroll; children: James Jr. of Little Silver, Kevin of Marco Island, FL, Linda Roche and husband James of Richmond, VA and Karen Diamond and husband Lou of Middletown, NJ; sisters: Jean Strollo of Wall and Helen Lane of Tinton Falls; grandchildren: Phillip, Nicole, Joshua, Alicia, Tanner, Morgan, Troy and Ian; great-grandchildren: Taylor and Catherine and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. James R.C. Church in Red Bank. Interment will be private.
