John Gasparini Of Oceanport Dies At 65

Services will be held for Oceanport resident on Friday and Saturday

John Gasparini of Oceanport passed away at home on Dec. 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 65.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, he moved to Rumson in the mid-1970s and later to Oceanport in the late 1980s to marry and raise his family.

John received a bachelor's degree in finance from American International College, MA and a master's degree from Monmouth University. He worked for AT&T for 31 years as a financial manager and analyst in product and service development and planning organizations throughout his career.

He enjoyed astronomy, boating, skiing, snow and water, scuba diving, rock climbing, biking and running. John was a devoted husband and father to his surviving family, his wife Barbara, daughter Julia and son Weston Gasparini. He was predeceased by his parents Priscilla (2005) and Francis Gasparini (2015) of Rumson. He is survived by a sister Diane Marchese, Longmeadow MA, and a brother David Gasparini of Hillsborough, NJ.

Visitation hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 415 Broadway, in Long Branch. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven. A private internment is planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name can be made to The Courtney Rose Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research, The Alex Munoz Memorial Fund, The United States Olympic Ski Team or a charity of your choice.
