Like Mother, Like Daughter for Oceanport Running Group [PHOTOS]

The group of moms and daughters have been meeting weekly at Blackberry Bay to learn good form and healthy habits.

Every Monday afternoon for the past month, a group of Oceanport moms and daughters have been gathering at Blackberry Bay Park to combine fitness, togetherness and fun.

"It's really just a way to get active with out girls," said mom Nicole Goldsmith, explaining why she organized the informal running club, that's made up of girls of all ages -- from about kindergarten to eighth grade.

On Oct. 15, about 17 girls and their 13 moms showed up for a quick warm up led by personal trainer Kathy Alter and then they were off running, walking, galloping through the 1.4 mile course through the neighborhood before meeting back at the park for a cool down stretch with Oceanport mom Alyssa Jaronko (who also happens to be a trainer at Work Out World in Tinton Falls).

Alter had sent each runner off gripping a potato chip in each hand as a way to help them keep their hands relaxed and take their minds off the run. A few of the girls came back munching on their running aids and looking for more.

"They don't even know they're exercising," joked Jaronko.
