LITTLE SILVER, NJ — A dog that may have been stolen in Little Silver was reunited with her family on Thanksgiving Day, according to Little Silver Police.

Little Silver Police and Gemma's owners already stressed many times publicly that they would not press charges against whoever returned Gemma: They just wanted the dog back.

It was at about 6:30 p.m. last Monday that two separate people driving by saw Gemma walking alone along the east leg of Silverwhite Road.

Both cars stopped and one of the drivers remarked to the other that the dog was wearing a collar and had tags, said Lt. Silver Police Det. Stephen Scherer. The second driver put the dog in their car and said they would return the dog to its owner.

That car drove off and that was the last Gemma was ever seen again, said the police detective.

"After speaking with the victim and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, we are not looking to file any charges against anyone who may have Gemma. We only wish to reunite her with her family for the holidays," said Little Silver Police the Monday before Thanksgiving.

They just wanted the dog dropped off at Little Silver Police headquarters (480 Prospect Avenue, Little Silver) or any local animal hospital. Whoever dropped the dog could remain anonymous, said police.
