TINTON FALLS, NJ — An Oceanport man was killed in a single-car crash in Tinton Falls Sunday night, said Tinton Falls Police.At 11 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to Shafto Road just north of West Park Avenue for a single-car motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, police found a white 2014 Volkswagen Jetta that had left the right side of the road and struck several trees.The driver of the Jetta, Robert Mendez, 25, of Oceanport, was pronounced dead at the scene.Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to contact the Tinton Falls Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit via Cpl. Christopher Duncan at 732-542-3400, ext. 465 or Cpl. David Ebert at 732-542-3400, ext. 473.
