Police Make Arrest Related to January Bomb Threat at SJV

The Holmdel Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a bomb threat that was called in to SJV High School back in January.

The Holmdel Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a bomb threat that was called in to Saint John Vianney High School back on January 15.

According to Holmdel Police Lt. Keith Cannata, a 15-year-old male was arrested on August 20 and charged with Creating a False Public Alarm and Terroristic Threats.

Lt. Cannata declined at this time to reveal whether the juvenile was a Holmdel resident.

The suspect was charged at police headquarters and then released to his parents. The case will be sent to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Cannata said.

Back on January 15, the bomb threat to Saint John Vianney High School was called in to Holmdel police headquarters at approximately 11:40 a.m. that morning. A search for the suspect and evacuation was done by multiple agencies, including the Holmdel, Hazlet and Matawan police departments, New Jersey State Police, and the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team. A lengthy investigation was then conducted by Detective Andrew Kret and the Holmdel Police Department, in conjunction with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the FBI Office out of Newark.

At the time, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office had believed the call to have been a hoax.

The investigation is still active, and anyone with information is asked to call the Holmdel Township Police Department at 732-946-4400.
