Valerie Danielle Lanigan Of Shrewsbury Dies At 19

Services were held on Monday, internment was private.

Valerie Danielle Lanigan, 19, Shrewsbury, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, surrounded and embraced by her loving family.

Born at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, she resided in Shrewsbury. Valerie attended Shrewsbury Borough School and graduated from Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver. She attended Advantage Career Institute, Eatontown, where she graduated as a NHA Certified Medical Assistant. Valerie was to attend the spring session at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, to pursue a degree in teaching.

Valerie was employed as a server at All Seasons Restaurant Diner in Eatontown and Bella Vista Country Club in Marlboro. Valerie loved to work out, enjoyed taking long walks to think things through, sushi, the NJ Devils and her “nugget” Wally.

Valerie lived her life never hesitant to defend her beliefs, she loved to debate topics she was passionate about and always thought of others in need which resulted in her becoming an organ donor; her gift will improve the quality of life for others. Valerie loved children and they would always gravitate to her. Valerie put the needs of her friends before her own, always there to lend support, listen or give a shoulder to cry on. Valerie had a heart of gold and a dazzling smile that will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her parents, Philip and Elizabeth and brother Christopher of Shrewsbury; grandmother, Jean Justice of Weechie Wachee, FL; grandfather, William Lanigan of Shrewsbury; aunt, Kathleen Kocen of Fair Haven; uncles, William Lanigan (Kathy) of Dryden, NY, John Lanigan of Oak Hill, VA, and Joseph (Peggy Sue) Lanigan of Middletown. Valerie also has numerous cousins in California, Georgia, New Jersey and New York.

A prayer service and visitation was held Monday at the Thompson Memorial Home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in her memory to the American Cancer Society Mem. Processing Center, 2310 Rt. 4, STE 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736 or online at www.cancer.org.
