William J. Augustitis, Special FBI Agent, Dies At 70

Services for Monmouth Beach resident will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

William J. Augustitis, 70, of Monmouth Beach, died Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

He was a Special Agent for the FBI in Philadelphia, New York and Newark for 31 years, before retiring in 1998 and Assistant Director of Security for St. Barnabas Southern Regional Hospitals.

He was treasurer for the Jersey Shore Chapter of the Society of Ex-Agents, past treasurer of the Monmouth Beach Fire Company, and a member of the Eatontown Elks, Lodge #2402 and the Long Branch Ice and Boat Club. Bill was a parishioner of the Roman Catholic Church of the Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach. Born in Springfield, Illinois,he lived in Matawan before moving to Monmouth Beach in 1974.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Irene L. Augustitis in 2014. Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Marilynn Augustitis; his daughter, Elizabeth Augustitis; a brother and sister-i -law, Joseph and Tammy Augustitis; five grandchildren, Chloe, Christian, Alana, Alora and Jacqueline and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.) in Long Branch. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15 at Church of the Precious Blood, 72 Riverdale Ave., Monmouth Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Monmouth Beach Fire Department, 24 Beach Rd., Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750 or the Monmouth Beach First Aid, 26 Beach Rd., Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750.
