Kitten Trapped In Sewer Rescued By Long Branch Fire Department

LONG BRANCH, NJ - A kitten was pulled to safety this week after a passerby found the animal in a Long Branch sewer, authorities said.

On Wednesday, a Long Branch resident identified as Diego happened upon a kitten crying in a sewer while he was walking on Joline Avenue, Long Branch police said in a statement.

Members of the Long Branch Fire Department helped to remove the sewer grates and assist animal control in setting two humane traps to retrieve the one-month-old black and white kitten, police said.

The kitten was unharmed and pulled to safety and the traps were removed by the fire department, police said.
