LONG BRANCH, NJ — A Long Branch woman is accused of using her employer's credit card to purchase $80,000 worth of items for her own personal use, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced Monday.

The woman is Nadine Hurd, 37, of Long Branch. She is charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking.

The theft took place over the course of slightly more than five years, from 2018 into 2023, said the prosecutor. Hurd turned herself in on Friday, and she has been released until her next court date.

She used to work as the customer service and inventory manager for a manufacturing company located in Wall. Police say Hurd used the company credit card to purchase personal items from more than 50 different retailers over that five-year span. The items included clothing, jewelry, patio furniture, garden supplies, and a complete home kitchen remodel, including new appliances.

This was a joint investigation done by a detective from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Wall Township Police. They did an analysis of the company's financial records.
