Monmouth Medical Center To Open Program For Perinatal Mood And Anxiety Disorders

Intensive outpatient program is the first in New Jersey.

What began as a support group at Monmouth Medical Center is now the first Center for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety in New Jersey.

The intensive outpatient program has screened over 800 women and treated more than 500 patients from New Jersey and neighboring states, according to a medical center release.

The creation of the center is result of the severe need for services available to treat postpartum depression and anxiety in the state. New Jersey became the first state to require every new mother to be screened for PPD/A before they are discharged from the hospital.
