Shore Regional senior field hockey player Shannon Johnson has signed her letter of intent to play for the University of North Carolina. Johnson was a part of multiple state championship teams during her time at Shore Regional and follows in the footsteps of her older sister Aileen Johnson, who committed to Duke University last winter. A crowd comprised of her family, friends and teammates joined her in the media center of Shore Regional on Tuesday morning as she signed her national letter of intent. Johnson's number, 00, was retired by the school as well. A plaque with her name and jersey number were placed in a glass case in the hallway outside the school's gym, cementing her status as one of the school's best athletes. National Signing day for high school fall athletes, including field hockey and football, is tomorrow, Feb. 6.
