Brighton Avenue in Long Branch will be closed for a week, as the state Department of Transportation begins replacing the railroad crossing between Sairs Avenue and John Guire Drive, said DOT spokesman Steve Schapiro.

The two-way traffic on Brighton Avenue is slated to be closed at the beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday until 7 p.m. on March 31.

The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach.
