MONMOUTH BEACH - Authorities have identified the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in the Shrewsbury River near the Channel Club Marina on Friday afternoon, according to a report in app.com.

The two people who were found in the water near the Marina in Monmouth Beach on Friday have been identified as John J. LoBello, 59, of Toms River, and Deborah Hollen-Lappin, 51, of Eatontown, said Charles Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

"The deaths do not appear to be suspicious, but that determination is pending the results of a toxicological report from the medical examiner," Webster said.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.

The bodies are scheduled to be examined at the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office on Saturday morning, Webster said.

On Friday afternoon, divers entered the Shrewsbury River in front of the Channel Club and the marina located on West Street.

A short time later, what appeared to be two bodies — bundled in plastic tarps — were wheeled up the water access ramp near the Channel Club on two stretchers. The first body was moved around 4:25 p.m.; the second body was moved about 30 minutes later, the report states.

A manager who answered the phone Friday evening at the Beach Tavern, which is located next to the marina, declined to comment.

A Monmouth County Sheriff's Special Operations truck, New Jersey State Police, Monmouth Beach police officers and EMS, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office were at the scene. State Police Trooper Lawrence Peele said the agency was assisting the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office with the investigation.

The area surrounding the Channel Club Marina was roped off with yellow tape on Friday.
This is a developing story. Come back to Patch later for more information.
