West Long Branch Police Warn Residents of Fourth of July Traffic Concerns

Police expect heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic

 

The annual West Long Branch fireworks on the Fourth of July will create heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the borough.

The event will begin at Franklin Lake Park on Locust Avenue on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 7 p.m. with a concert by Greaseband. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

West Long Branch Police say traffic will be detoured around the event and all eastbound traffic on Highway 36 will be detoured down Broadway.

"Remember to follow directions of traffic officers, detour signs and abide by all parking regulations," the West Long Branch Police said in a Nixle message. "Use caution and exercise extra awareness while driving."

The fireworks are set off from the Shore Regional High School parking lot and can be seen best from the Locust Avenue side of Franklin Lake. This causes pedestrian traffic to be heaviest in this area, and it will be blocked off by police.
