Beloved Historic House Tour Returns To Long Valley Next Month
The Washington Township Historical Society will once again host the Long Valley Historic House Tour, scheduled for Dec. 14.
LONG VALLEY, NJ β A cherished tradition that highlights the rich history of Washington Township is making a return, providing a unique opportunity to explore and learn about the area's heritage.
After a five-year hiatus, the Washington Township Historical Society will host its Historic House Tour on Dec. 14.
The tour, which began nearly 40 years ago, takes attendees through town to explore a variety of historic local properties. This year's event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., officials said.

"Join us as selected historic homes in Long Valley open their doors to the public. Enjoy guided tours through these private residences, two of which have never before been shown on the tour," the Historical Society said.
Visitors will receive a tour booklet with descriptions of the houses, parking instructions, and a map. Parking is limited to designated areas, and children under 12 are not permitted. The tour is not suitable for toddlers, pets, or strollers, and it is not wheelchair accessible, officials said.

Attendees are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, as the distance between parking areas and the homes can be significant.
Advance tickets for the Historic House Tour are available online for $25, with receipts required for entry on Dec. 14. Cash-only tickets can also be purchased for $25 at the WTHS Museum, located at 6 Fairview Avenue in Long Valley, during regular operating hours. Day-of tickets will be sold for $30 (cash only) at the museum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the tour.
All proceeds from ticket sales will support the maintenance of the WTHS Museum and the Union Church ruins, as well as fund ongoing community activities.
The Washington Township Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and fostering interest in the history of Washington Township and the surrounding areas. Its mission is to deepen understanding of the community, state and nation, while highlighting the importance of local heritage.
