Domestic Assault Ends In Police Shooting In North Jersey: PD
Police were attempting to arrest a man following an alleged domestic assault when an officer-involved shooting happened, prosecutor says.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A domestic assault ended in an officer-involved shooting in Washington Township (Warren) Thursday afternoon, Warren County Prosecutor Richard Burke said on Friday.
Tyler Lusardi-Paz, 28, was shot once in the abdomen by Washington Township police officers after a tussle with them, Burke said.
According to Burke, Lusardi-Paz was seen repeatedly striking a woman while she was on the ground of the 400 block of Washburn Ave. Police say they saw the woman in an SUV, but they were unable to stop the car when it left the scene.

Additional Washington police officers tried to locate the car, while the original officers went onto the property to try to find Lusardi-Paz. He was eventually found in a bungalow at the back of the property; when police tried to arrest him, an "altercation" took place, Burke said.
During the altercation, police shot Lusardi-Paz once in the abdomen. Lusardi-Paz was treated at the scene, and flown to a nearby trauma center. He is currently in stable condition.
