Driver Rescued After Car Crashes During Snowstorm In Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, NJ — During Sunday’s snowstorm, members of the Long Valley First Aid Squad rescued a driver trapped at the top of an embankment, authorities said.

On Sunday evening, police responded to a car crash that led to the closure of Fairview Avenue between Laketown and Naughright Roads. Officials said the Long Valley First Aid Squad EMS and Rescue Services were also dispatched to the scene due to a reported entrapment.

When rescue crews arrived, they found the car had veered off the roadway and was positioned at the top of an embankment. The number of people in the car at the time of the crash has not been disclosed.

According to officials, members of the Rescue Services team stabilized the vehicle while LVFAS Rescue Services used their Holmatro Pentheon cutters to remove the passenger door, allowing for a safe extraction.

The occupants were then turned over to EMS for their injuries, officials said.

"Road conditions had rapidly deteriorated and became too slick to move the patient safely on the stretcher. A low angle rope system was established by LVFAS Rescue Services as a safety to facilitate the movement of patient to awaiting ambulance," the First Aid Squad said.

There was no information on the condition of the driver.
