DWI, Warrant Arrest Reported In Long Valley: Police Blotter

Washington Township Police released its latest blotter for the past two weeks.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — In recent weeks, Long Valley police have responded to multiple drunk driving incidents, as well as an arrest tied to an active warrant.

The following details were gathered from Washington Township Police Department records.

On April 2, Parsippany police arrested a Sussex County resident with an outstanding warrant issued by the Washington Township Municipal Court. The individual was unable to post bail and was turned over to Washington Township officers. They were then taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility, officials said.

On April 3, a Hopatcong man appeared in Washington Township Municipal Court for a hearing related to driving with a suspended license due to a prior DWI. Authorities say this was his sixth offense. He was charged with a fourth-degree crime for operating a vehicle while his license was suspended due to a DWI and was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

On April 6, at approximately 9:40 p.m., a 22-year-old male from Hackettstown was stopped on Route 46 for unsafe driving. Officers observed signs of intoxication, and an odor of alcohol was detected. After field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI). He was taken to police headquarters, processed, issued several summonses, and released to a responsible party pending a court date.

On April 8, at approximately 1:58 p.m., an officer saw a silver Lexus sedan traveling westbound on Route 46 with an obscured license plate. Upon closer inspection, it was found that black tape had been used to conceal the vehicle's actual registration. A traffic stop was made, and further investigation revealed that the 65-year-old driver from Hackettstown had a suspended license and the vehicle’s registration was also suspended. The driver was issued several motor vehicle summonses and charged with obstructing a governmental function. He was released pending a municipal court appearance.

On April 12, at around 5:25 p.m., a vehicle was seen illegally passing other cars while heading north on Schooley’s Mountain Road. As police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver hit a curb and veered off the road before coming to a stop. When officers spoke with the driver, a 49-year-old man from Hackettstown, they noticed signs of impairment. After field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. He was taken to the police station, processed, given several summonses, and released to a responsible party pending a court date.
