Forgery and Criminal Attempt

Washington Township arrested a Florida woman this month after discovering she had used a fraudulent check, officials said.

According to police, the 19-year-old had deposited a fraudulent check from a local business into a personal bank account in Florida.

The transaction was tracked by Washington Township detectives, and the woman was issued a complaint summons. She’s been charged with forgery and criminal attempt.

She was given a court date with the Morris County Superior Court.

Fugitive Arrested

A motor vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of a fugitive according to the Washington Township Police Department.

According to authorities, a motor vehicle stop on Schooleys Mountain Road was conducted after “several violations” were witnessed by officers.

Police discovered that the driver, a 38-year-old man from Irvington, had “an active no-bail criminal warrant” out of Irvington in Essex County, officials said.

The Irvington man was arrested and brought to Morris County Correctional Facility, awaiting a transfer to Essex County. He also received several motor vehicle citations.

Warrants Discovered Following Disturbance Call

Washington Township police discovered multiple warrants after responding to a call regarding a disturbance.

Officials responded to a call at Long Valley Center reporting an unconscious woman in a parked car. The woman was medically cleared by EMS upon arrival, according to officials.

During the investigation, a man at the scene of the incident was revealed to have active criminal warrants in Plainfield, South Plainfield, as well as two in Piscataway, police said.

The man was arrested and brought to Morris County Jail.

Fake ID, DWI Cover-Up

A Washington Township police officer recently conducted a traffic stop on Route 46 East after confirming a fraudulent inspection sticker.

Upon investigating the driver, a Passaic man, it was discovered that he was using a fake ID to “hide prior DWI charges,” according to officials.

The man was arrested and issued summonses and criminal complaints, and has been released pending a future court date.

Washington Township officials have not released the identities of any suspects in their recent criminal activity report.
