Long Valley Farm Honored With Century Award From N.J. Agricultural Society
Ort Farms has seen six generations of the same family run the business.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – To know Long Valley is to know Ort Farms, one of the town’s longest standing businesses and most popular families in the town’s history.
It’s because of that the family and their farm were honored this week by the New Jersey Agricultural Society with the Century Farm Award to celebrate 100 years in business.
The Ort Family settled in Long Valley – formerly known as German Valley – in the 1800s, and Harvey Ort had a farm operation on Spring Lane. In 1916, Harvey’s son, Jacob Ort, moved off his father’s farm and established the current location on Bartley Road.

A century later, the farm now spans 400 acres and produces pumpkins, hay, grain, straw, a garden center and produce stand among other items. A total of six generations have farmed the Bartley Road land in past 100 years.
