Morris County Gas Station Bandit Nabbed, Police Say

Suspect in five robberies of gas stations in Netcong and Rockaway caught, according to police.

A suspect seen in surveillance footage demanding cash from registers at a couple of gas stations in Morris County has been identified and charged, according to a story in The Daily Record. Police say Nicholas Saccoccio, a 25-year-old from Pennsylvania with an affinity for drugs carried out the robberies over the last month at a Valero Gas Station in Netcong and the Shell Station on Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township.

Saccoccio was arrested last Thursday after he allegedly committed the third robbery of the Valero Gas Station on Route 46, according to The Daily Record. While making his getaway, Sccoccio crashed on Mount Hope Avenue in Rockaway Township before police got to him.
According to police, officers were observing the gas station when at about 2:30 AM, they were alerted to an incident in progress. The Daily Record states that the attendant on duty screamed while the robber made his departure.

"It was a good job by all police involved and the surveillance paid off," Blesson told The Daily Record..
Saccoccio was also charged for utilizing imitation handgun to rob the gas stations. Saccoccio is said to have stolen between $200 and $500 during each incident, except the Thursday Valero robbery, when he allegedly took $614, according to The Daily Record.
Superior Court Judge James DeMarzo on Friday assigned bail at $200,000, with no 10 percent option, according to The Daily Record.
