Overturned Dump Truck Causes Oil Leak, Long Valley Emergency Personnel Respond

The driver of the dump truck was brought to the hospital, according to authorities.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Long Valley emergency personnel recently responded to a call of an overturned dump truck which resulted in a significant oil spill.

On July 2 at around 7:45 a.m., the Long Valley Fire Company was called out to Naughright Road to assist an overturned vehicle. The dump truck fell onto the shoulder of the oncoming traffic lane.

According to officials, the dump truck had overturned on the driver’s side, and there was a "significant oil leak” heading towards a nearby storm drain.

Assisting on the scene was the Washington Township Department of Public Works, who mitigated the spill using “granular absorbent and spill pads to create a dike,” officials said.

The Morris County HAZMAT team was called to the scene to assist with the spill clean-up.

The Washington Township Police Department closed Naughright Road at the intersection of Fairview Avenue. The road was opened the following day according to police.

The driver of the dump truck was evaluated by the Long Valley First Aid Squad before being transported to a nearby hospital, according to authorities.

According to fire officials, the department was “back in service in just over an hour,” following the accident.
