Package Theft, Underage Alcohol Sale Reported In Long Valley: Police

Washington Township Police released the blotter for the past few weeks.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — In recent weeks, Long Valley has seen the arrest of a porch pirate and an ongoing investigation into an alleged underage alcohol sale. The following information was provided by the Washington Township Police Department.

On Nov. 15, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Long Valley patrols conducted a motor vehicle stop on Schooleys Mountain Road after observing multiple traffic violations. During the stop, officers determined the driver, a 49-year-old Long Valley man, was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI, along with several motor vehicle offenses.

He was processed and released pending a court appearance, police added.

On Nov. 18, patrols responded to a report of a package theft on Scenic Falls Road. The resident provided a description of the vehicle involved, and a short time later, officers located and stopped the vehicle.

The driver, a 46-year-old man from Jersey City, was arrested and charged with theft. He was processed and released pending a court appearance, police said.

On Nov. 22, detectives from the Washington Township Police Department, along with investigators from the NJ Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), investigated Krauser's on East Mill Road following complaints about minors being sold alcohol.

As a result, the store's manager was charged with selling alcohol to a minor, along with several other ABC violations. An 18-year-old Long Valley resident was also charged with purchasing alcohol underage. All individuals involved were issued summons and released pending a court appearance.

On Nov. 23, authorities responded to a motor vehicle crash on Fairmount Road. During the investigation, it was determined that the 19-year-old driver had been drinking. He was arrested and charged with underage DWI and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was processed and released pending a court appearance.

On Nov. 23, authorities responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the Long Valley Plaza. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, a 34-year-old man from Chester, had been driving while intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI, along with several other motor vehicle offenses.

On Nov. 26, authorities responded to a report of a possible medical emergency in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers determined that the driver, a 32-year-old woman from Newton, was under the influence of a controlled substance.

A K9 unit from the Morris County Sheriff's Office was called in, and the dog alerted officers to the vehicle. A search revealed an unspecified amount of heroin. The driver was arrested and charged with DWI, possession of a controlled substance, and several motor vehicle offenses.

On Nov. 26, detectives charged a 23-year-old Long Valley man following an investigation into numerous car burglaries and package thefts. He was charged with multiple counts of attempted burglary, and theft. The man also had an outstanding warrant from Pennsylvania, police added. He was taken into custody and is being held in the Morris County Jail pending a court appearance.
