LONG VALLEY, NJ — This year, Washington Township residents will be electing a new member of the township committee. New Jersey's primary election is held on June 6.

All primary candidates in Washington Township are running uncontested. These candidates filed with the Morris County Clerk's Office.

Matthew Murello, the current mayor, has filed as a candidate for reelection with the Regular Republican Organization. This past January, Murello was named mayor for the fifth consecutive year.

Deborah Susan, who is running under the Morris County Democratic Committee, has also declared her candidacy for the open township committee seat. If elected, she will be the only Democrat on the committee.
