Green Ave. to Be Resurfaced in Time for Thanksgiving

Move needed cars by 7:30 a.m. during paving next week, borough says.

Green Avenue should be paved in time for Thanksgiving, weather permitting.

Cifelli & Son Construction plans to conduct milling operations Thursday and Friday, and paving operations Monday and Tuesday, on Green Avenue, the borough has announced.

Work will be phased to minimize access limitations. The borough said it is important to complete the project before the holiday weekend because colder temperatures could lead to material supply and acceptance issues.

Property access during milling will not be affected for more than an hour at individual locations. Generally, property access during final paving operations is restricted for half a day in the direct vicinity of work.

"Your cooperation is requested during the time of construction to remove/relocate the automobiles you intend to use by approximately 7:30 a.m. on final paving days when the contractor is active in your vicinity," the borough said. "This will minimize interruption of construction work and allow the contractor to finish as soon as possible. Temporary Parking on a minor local street within 1000 feet of your home/business may be anticipated with the cooperation of the Police Department."

Emergency “No Parking” will be enforced by if vehicles impede progress. Scheduling problems may be directed to the office of the Borough Engineer. Police can be contacted for traffic information and assistance.

"The inconvenience is temporary but the improvements will last for many years," the announcement says.

Some residents have said the road work is badly needed.

Last July, residents told Madison's governing body the road was decaying and in deplorable condition, and petitioned the Borough Council to have it fixed.
