Ice Skating Rink Open For The Season In Madison

Due to the freezing temperatures this weekend, the ice at the Rosedale Skating Pond has officially frozen, opening the rink for the season.

MADISON, NJ — Although the icy cold temperatures from last week's winter storm have finally subsided, the Rosedale Skating Pond was finally frozen and is ready for skaters.

The skating rink, located on Rosedale next to the Madison Community Pool, provides a fun way for residents to stay active during the winter months.

Skating on the rink is only permitted when the flag is raised, as skating when the rink is closed can result in damage to the surface and jeopardize future availability, officials said.

The official park hours are 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. and the lights are kept on at the rink until 10 p.m.

Although the rink is now open, temperatures in the area are expected to rise, making the rink's longevity uncertain. Skaters are advised to avoid the ice during warm weather or when it is maturing, as it can become unstable and thus dangerous.

No food or drink is allowed while on the ice and all children must be accompanied by an adult in order to skate. For more information, click here.
