Madison Grad Darnell Evans Named CIAA Special Teams Player of the Year

Madison High School graduate Darnell Evans, a senior cornerback at Shaw University, was named the CIAA's Special Teams Player of the Year, and was named First Team All-CIAA at cornerback, punt returner and kick returner, the university has announced.

Evans led the division with 11 interceptions, and led the nation in interception return yards.

Evans finished second in the nation in passes defended with 21. He had 37 tackles, including two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and three tackles for a loss, the university announcement says.
