More Students Volunteering with Service Learning
Program is in its third year, with more students giving more time.
History Department Head Mark DeBiasse gave a presentation at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting detailing the growth of the Service Learning program.
The program was started after being introduced by DeBiasse three years ago.
The program attempts to foster volunteerism, increase the number of volunteer opportunities available to students by working with the community through a volunteer network, and connect the service directly to the district's curriculum.

The program allows students to sign up for two elective classes that focus on volunteer service. They are the student volunteer program and the advanced service project.
DeBiasse and senior student Bailey Theado presented the latest developments from this year's program to the board. The attached video shows a condensed package of the presentation.
