Just three days earlier, the same department announced the death of Kevin May, a firefighter with the Westwood Fire Department, who also died in the line of duty.
May responded to an Oct. 16 five-alarm house fire in Upper Saddle River without apparent injury, but experienced chest pains and difficulty breathing the morning after. A stent procedure was performed on Oct. 17, however, he was found unresponsive and couldn’t be revived on Oct. 24. The cause of his death was an apparent heart attack, according to NorthJersey.com.
