Truck Driver Nabbed With 95 Kilos Of Drugs In Bergen County: Feds
Alejandro Lajud was pulled over on the New Jersey Turnpike Monday after cops saw him driving erratically, officials said.
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — A Yonkers man who drove through Bergen County in a truck packed with 95 kilos of illegal drugs was arrested on federal charges, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Alejandro Lajud, 39, has been charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl and could face life in prison and $10 million in fines, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said.
Lajud was arrested Monday after officers pulled him over for driving a tractor-trailer erratically on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Rutherford, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Officers searched the truck and found 70 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 25 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Lajud was arrested and appeared in court on the same date, and was then detained.
