Bergen County Assistant Prosecutor Dies In Motorcycle Crash: Police

Avon Morgan, 38, was identified as the victim of a motorcycle crash on Friday, the prosecutor's office said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — An assistant Bergen County prosecutor was identified as the victim of a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon on Essex Street in Hackensack, Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Avon Morgan, 38, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries, the prosecutor's office said.

"It is difficult to convey the significance of the sudden and devastating loss of our friend and colleague," Musella said in a statement.

"It is a professional and personal loss, as Avon was a talented and hard-working young trial attorney with a bright future," Musella continued, "but it was his constant smile and positive attitude that made him beloved by defense attorneys and judges, as well as by all of us at the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office."

In a Facebook post Friday, the prosecutor's office, with "profound sadness," announced the passing of Morgan.
