Driver Slams Into Mahwah Citgo Gas Pump

The driver's 'medical condition' caused the crash, police say.

A driver who suffered a medical condition while traveling near the Franklin Turnpike Citgo station Tuesday afternoon took out one of its gas pumps, local authorities confirmed Tuesday.

According to Police Chief Jim Batelli, the driver of the SUV, “suffered a medical condition that resulted in her striking one of the gas pumps.”

Officials say somewhere between one and two gallons of gas leaked from the pump as a result of the crash, which happened at about 12:45 p.m.
