Family Displaced By 'Serious' House Fire In Mahwah: Officials

A two-story house in Mahwah sustained significant damage in a fire Wednesday that left the residents displaced, police said.

MAHWAH, NJ — A two-story home on Storrs Court in Mahwah sustained significant damage during a structure fire Wednesday night that left the residents displaced, a Mahwah Police Department spokesperson said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, police said, though a few of them were treated for minor heat injuries.

The residents were left uninjured, but the home was damaged by smoke, fire and water, police said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Mutual aid was requested from multiple other units from New Jersey and New York, police said.

"Thank you to our Fire Department and volunteer emergency workers," Mahwah Mayor Jim Wysocki said of the "serious" house fire on Facebook. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the homeowners."
