Field Day Celebrates Betsy Ross's 'Blue Ribbon' Title

The school won the national recognition earlier this year.

On May 30, Betsy Ross students and staff all enjoyed a special “Blue Ribbon Celebration” for their annual Field Day event. All of the events were centered around a Blue Ribbon theme.

In arts and crafts, “WILD BLUE YONGER” had students build airplanes to fly, “STACK UNTIL YOU ARE BLUE” let students race in the game of cups, “PLAY THE BLUES” allowed kids to test their talents on instruments while they played the blues music.

Sports activities included “DUKE BLUE DEVILS," which gave them a chance to shoot hoops on the basketball court, “THE BLUES,” which taught them hockey skills, “PAUL BUNYAN AND BABE THE BLUE OX,” a relay to fill up the watering hole so Babe could drink, and “BLUE JAYS, ” which tested to see who hit the baseball the furthest.

“BLUES CLUES” had the students using a shovel and pail to figure out a mission like in the popular TV series, “BLUE RIBBON CASTLE” challenged each team to build the biggest castle. “BLACK AND BLUE” provided different exercises, at the “BIG BLUE” event the police department brought their radar to help show off everyone’s football throwing skills , and finally to round off the perfect day the kids enjoyed a slide down the “DEEP BLUE SEA,” a huge blow-up slide.

During the entire event a DJ played music which concluded in a school wide electric slide dance. It was a great day for Betsy Ross!
